The 2027 campaign goal is to raise $50,000 to continue to clear UXO in Khammouane, Laos

What will $50,000 accomplish in 2027?

Let’s continue the work we started.

Since 2024, when we launched the first campaign, more than 175 generous donors have contributed to more than $151,000 in an effort to help clear the unexploded bombs in Khammouane (Cam -moo-ane) province Laos. To date we have cleared approximately the area of 75 football fields removing and destroying UXO (unexploded ordnance) and making the area safe and habitable for local communities.

In 2027 we want to deploy a vital team of 12 who will continue to identify, remove, and safely destroy all types of UXO. They will work four months and will work to clear an area equal to 25 football fields.

There is still a lot of work to be done to help repair the damage done 50 years ago. Every dollar you provide helps make the land safe for the people in Laos, especially the children. It enables them to live without fear and rebuild their futures.

So far, we have already found hundreds of cluster bombs, two huge 750 lb. and two 500 lb. bombs needing to be deactivated by a special detonating team.

Why Laos?

During the Vietnam War (1964 -1973), Laos was the most heavily bombed country per capita. Khammouane province was a target for US bombing with the goal to disrupt a key North Vietnamese supply route. More than 110,000 bombing missions were conducted across Khammouane, Laos.

Nearly five decades since the war ended millions of these deadly UXO still remain active and are a deadly threat to the people of Laos. Across Laos, more than 50,000 people have been killed, or injured, many of them children.

How will your donation make a difference?

Your donation in any amount will:

  • Eliminate UXO before another child is killed or injured.
  • Save lives and build safer futures for the people of Laos.
  • Allow families to grow crops for their family and to sell and ensure future generations can thrive.

Your gifts so far have touched the lives of others and made a huge difference. Thank you for your continued generosity and compassion.

Let’s keep the children smiling!
